The high-performance ZEISS Sonnar T* lens is a compact lens that can always be carried with the α7 series cameras equipped with a 35mm full-frame sensor. As a versatile 35mm lens, it excels in a wide variety of scenes, including landscapes and snapshots. Moreover, a new optical design has achieved the bright F2.8 aperture characteristic of a "Sonnar" lens, derived from "Sonne" (meaning sun in German). By employing three aspherical lenses, various aberrations are well corrected. This ensures high contrast and high resolution even in peripheral areas at all apertures, while also achieving thorough miniaturization. Furthermore, "T*" (T-star) coating provides excellent color reproduction, and the adoption of a linear motor and internal focusing enables smooth, fast, and quiet focusing. For the lens exterior, high-grade aluminum material suitable for a ZEISS lens has been adopted, with consideration for dust and splash resistance, similar to the α7 series.
